【曇無竭】此云法勇，亦云法上。姓李，黃龍人。幼為沙彌，勤修苦行，持戒誦經，為師所重。嘗聞法顯躬踐佛國，慨然有忘身之誓。以武帝永初年，招集同志僧猛等二十五人，共遊西域二十餘年。自餘並死，唯竭獨還。於罽賓得梵經本，楊都翻譯。

[Dharmodgata] Here translated as "Dharma-Valour" (Fayong), also called "Dharma-Superior" (Fashang). Surnamed Li, a native of Huanglong. As a novice in his youth, he diligently cultivated austerities, kept the precepts, and recited the sūtras, winning his master's esteem. Having once heard that Faxian had personally trodden the lands of the Buddha, with a sigh he took a vow to forget his own body. In the Yongchu era of Emperor Wu [of the Song], he gathered together twenty-five like-minded companions, including Sengmeng, and together they traveled in the Western Regions for over twenty years. All the rest died; only Dharmodgata returned alone. In Jibin, he obtained Sanskrit manuscript texts, and translated them in the capital at Yang[zhou].
