【鄔（安古）波弟鑠】此云父母。楊子云：「父母，子之天地與！無天何以生？無地何以形？」《摭華》云：「天懸象，地載形；父受氣，母化成。」《詩》曰：「哀哀父母，生我劬勞。無父何怙？無母何恃？出則銜恤，入則靡至。父兮生我，母兮鞠我，撫我育我，長我畜我，顧我復我，出入復我。欲報之恩，昊天罔極！」《梵網經》云：「孝順父母，師僧三寶。」

【Upadeśa】 Here translated as 'parents.' Master Yang said: "Are not parents the Heaven and Earth of a child? Without Heaven, how could one be born? Without Earth, how could one take form?" The Zhihua says: "Heaven suspends the signs, Earth supports forms; the father confers the breath, the mother completes the transformation." The Book of Odes says: "Alas, alas, my parents! / With what toil they gave me birth! / Without a father, on whom could I rely? / Without a mother, on whom could I depend? / Going forth, I bear sorrow; / returning within, I find no rest. / Father, you gave me life; / Mother, you nurtured me, / caressed me, fed me, / grew me, reared me, / watched over me, restored me, / going out and coming in, you looked back to me. / If I would requite such kindness, / it is boundless like the great heavens!" The Fanwang jing says: "Filially obey your parents, teachers, the saṅgha, and the Three Jewels."
