[Śūraṅgama] The Mahāprajñāpāramitā-śāstra says: "In the language of Qin, it means 'valiant aspect'. One discriminates and knows the aspects, quantities, depths, and shallownesses of all samādhis, just as a great general knows the strengths and numbers of all soldiers. When a bodhisattva attains this samādhi, none of the affliction-māras or human māras can destroy them. For example, wherever the treasure-general commanding the troops of a wheel-turning sage king resides or goes, no one can defeat or crush him; hence it is called the valiant aspect samādhi." The Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra says: "'Śūraṅ' means all matters are finished; 'gama' means solid. When everything is ultimate and attains solidity, it is called śūraṅgama." Therefore, the Śūraṅgama samādhi is called the Buddha-nature. Ci'en translated it as "adamantine treasury". Because all bodhisattvas realize this samādhi, it is named accordingly.
