The eight sūtras above, from the Faju [pi jing] downward, were all composed by Xiao Ziliang, and are therefore appended to the catalogue of spurious works. The preceding fifty-three sūtras are all declared to depart from the truth: some plagiarize the golden words [of the Buddha] at the beginning, yet unfold prophetic omens at the end; some discuss worldly arts, afterwards cloaking them in the rhetoric of the Dharma; some invoke yin and yang, auspiciousness and inauspiciousness; or expound upon spirits and ghosts, fortune and calamity. Instances such as these are manifestly spurious and fabricated. They should now be kept concealed away to deliver the world from harm.
