The śramaṇa Zhu Tanwulan, translated as Fazheng (Righteousness of the Dharma), was a native of the Western Regions. From the sixth year of the Taiyuan era of Emperor Xiaowu of the Jin (xin-si) [381 CE] to the twentieth year of the Taiyuan era (yi-wei) [395 CE], at the Xie Zhenxi Monastery in the capital Yangdu, he translated 111 sūtras in a total of 112 fascicles. Among them, some he translated himself, and others he extracted from larger collections.
