The śramaṇa Zhu Foshuo was a man from India. Discerning and perceptive, he had a comprehensive mastery of diverse arts. In the first year of the Jiaping reign era of Emperor Ling, year cyclical renzi, he translated the Daoxing jing (one fascicle) in Luoyang. In the sixth year of the Guanghe reign era, year cyclical guihai, he translated the Pratyutpanna-samādhi Sūtra (two fascicles). Lokakṣema translated the spoken words, and Meng Fu, Zhang Lian, and others served as scribes. Casting aside ornamentation to retain simplicity, it deeply captured the purport of the sūtra.
