The three works, nine fascicles, from the Huanshi down: all were extant sūtras entered into the canon in the Zhou Catalogue, but now authentic copies have been sought without success. Hence they are not recorded in this catalogue. As for newly translated sūtras whose copies have not yet been obtained, one cannot redundantly record them.
Jingdu sanmei jing, three fascicles;
Fashe jing, two fascicles;
Piluo sanmei jing, two fascicles;
Jueding zuifu jing, one fascicle;
Yiyi jing, two fascicles;
Jiuhu shenming ji ren bingku'e jing, one fascicle;
Zuimiao shengding jing, one fascicle;
Guanshiyin sanmei jing, one fascicle;
Qingjing faxing jing, one fascicle;
Gaowang guanshiyin jing, one fascicle (also called the Shedao jing).
The ten works, fifteen fascicles, from the Jingdu jing down: all are spurious and doubtful sūtras in ancient and older catalogues. Although compiled into the main canon in the Zhou Catalogue, their principles all involve human contrivance. Therefore, in this catalogue they are eliminated and not recorded.
In all, the above comprise one hundred and eighteen works, two hundred and forty-seven fascicles. Most are sūtras seen to have been entered into the canon in various catalogues. Now, because they are all redundant or their authentic copies have been sought without success, they are not counted among the definitively recognized total. Fearing that details might not be known, I have briefly related them here. If one wishes to know their origins in detail, all are expounded at length in the Shanfan lu.
