"'The kalpa-fire blazes fiercely, the great trichiliocosm is destroyed together;
Mount Sumeru and the vast oceans
are obliterated without remainder.
Brahmā, Śakra, devas, and nāgas, and all sentient beings,
are all destroyed still—how much more so this body!
Birth, old age, sickness, and death,
grief, sorrow, suffering, and distress,
the coercion of enemies and kin,
can act contrary to one's desires.
The fetters of craving and desire
are wounds and boils made by oneself;
the three realms have no peace,
what joy is there in a kingdom?
The conditioned is unreal,
arising from causes and conditions;
flourishing and decline turn like lightning,
existing for an instant, then gone.
The realms and destinies of existence
appear in accordance with conditions of karma;
like shadows and like echoes,
everything is completely empty.
Consciousness is drifted by karma,
arising dependent on the four great elements;
bound by ignorance and craving,
"I" and "mine" are produced.
Consciousness shifts with karma,
the body has no master;
one should know that lands and realms
are also like illusions and phantoms.'"
