"Great King! In future ages, all kings and the fourfold assembly of disciples should, in accordance with the path constantly practiced by all Buddhas of the ten directions, establish and disseminate [the teaching]. Yet evil bhikṣus, seeking fame and profit, will not rely on my Dharma, but will personally speak of faults before the king and create conditions for the destruction of the Dharma. The king will fail to discern [the truth], believe and accept their words, and arbitrarily institute regulations, not relying on the Buddha's precepts. Know that at such a time, the destruction of the Dharma will not be far off.
