1.68

經。何以故至眾生壽者　贊曰。此顯取非法相也。何以故者。曲問辭也。執教為有。是法執故。可有我生。撥教為無。既稱實相。應無我等。而前所言。無非法相。何以故耶。故即答云。夫實相者。離有離空。若執法無不稱實相。既為法執。我執亦生。故取非法相。亦即著我等。

Sūtra: "Why is this? [...] a sentient being, or a life-span." Commentary: This reveals grasping at the mark of non-dharma. 'Why is this?' is a probing question. Grasping at the teaching as existent is dharma-grasping, so a self may arise; but if one rejects the teaching as non-existent, since that accords with the true mark, there should be no self and so on. Why, then, was it said earlier that there is 'no mark of non-dharma'? Thus it answers: the true mark is free from both existence and emptiness. If one grasps at dharmas as non-existent, it does not accord with the true mark; since this is dharma-grasping, self-grasping also arises. Therefore, grasping at the mark of non-dharma also means attachment to a self, and so on.
