2.40

如前彼福不可量等等。皆是此中依經苦行所得苦果故。故雖行忍而有忍度。不同捨身而有苦果。

"That merit is immeasurable" and so forth mentioned before are all the fruits of suffering obtained through ascetic practice in reliance on the sūtra here. Therefore, although one practices forbearance, there is the perfection of forbearance; it is not like sacrificing the body, which merely has a fruit of suffering.
