[Sūtra:] "I will lead them all to enter nirvāṇa without remainder and cause them to pass into extinction:" The second section clarifies the supreme mind. This means causing sentient beings to attain the supreme bliss of great nirvāṇa. The vast vow given rise to by that bodhisattva above is indeed determined in this way. Being for the purpose of granting sentient beings ultimate, permanent bliss is called the supreme mind. "I will lead them all to enter" raises the great compassion of the bodhisattva. "Nirvāṇa without remainder" clarifies the complete quiescence that is attained. The perpetual cessation of the three fires is called "extinction". Soaring high to the other shore is termed "passing across". To realize and enter it in this manner is called "causing them to pass into extinction". "Nirvāṇa without remainder" is called "without remainder" because it is free from the two kinds of birth and death.
