Having explained the comparative superiority of practice, next [the text] reveals the comparative superiority of the benefits of the fruit, in which there are four kinds: (1) the fruit of pliancy; (2) the fruit of setting forth; (3) the fruit of received retribution; (4) the fruit of vow and knowledge. Regarding the superiority of the benefit of pliancy: the simile of gold. In 'wholesome dharmas such as faith are like genuine gold' and so forth, there are three parts: first, the doctrine; second, the simile; third, the application of the simile. Being repeatedly put into fire has three meanings: (1) entering via merit, because of making offerings to the Buddha and the Saṅgha; (2) entering via non-mind, because of teaching and transforming sentient beings; (3) entering via the unexcelled fruit, because of dedicating vows toward great bodhi. 'Seeing all Buddhas through great supernormal power': seeing physical-body Buddhas through superior supernormal power. 'Power of great vows': seeing dharmakāya Buddhas through the power of inner correct vows as cause. 'Many hundreds of Buddhas down to nayutas of Buddhas': because of seeing a number of many Buddhas through expedient means. The three kinds of offerings are as above.
