經。爾時至覺悟其耳　五答攝生時節文分為六。一妙德利物。二如來述成。三師資辨益。四救脫潤生。五示病救方。六令延遐壽。就初文中文分為四。一正明辨利。二勸物受持。三四鎮加威。四益持祛橫。此則初也。我於後時者。謂於像法起時誓以大悲種種方便。令信男女得聞藥師如來名號。乃至睡中亦以佛名覺悟其耳。

Sūtra: “At that time…” to “…awaken their ears.” Fifth, answering concerning the occasions for gathering sentient beings, the text is divided into six: first, Mañjuśrī's benefiting beings; second, the Tathāgata's endorsement; third, master and disciple explaining the benefits; fourth, Trāṇamukta's moistening life; fifth, indicating sickness and rescuing methods; sixth, causing the prolongation of long life. Within the first text, it is divided into four: first, properly explaining and differentiating the benefits; second, exhorting beings to receive and uphold; third, the four protectors bestowing their majesty; fourth, benefiting the upholder by dispelling calamities. This is the first. “I, in a later time” means that at the time when the semblance Dharma arises, he vows through great compassion and various expedient means to cause faithful men and women to hear the name of Bhaiṣajyaguru Tathāgata, even awakening their ears with the Buddha's name while they are asleep.
