"'As for quiet meditation, not manifesting body and mind in the three realms: this is quiet meditation.'" This second [part], from "As for quiet meditation" onward, specifically reprimands, in six parts. This first reprimands the fault of body and spirit not being quiescent. The three realms are empty by nature and have never ceased to be quiescent; body and mind are like illusions, so when are they ever not in concentration? How could there be revulsion and delight? [Seng]zhao said: "Now Śāriputra still has a physical body of worldly retribution and a mental faculty of worldly retribution. Thus, taking the human world to be troublesome and noisy, he sits in quiet meditation beneath the trees. Being unable to render body and spirit traceless, he brought about this reprimand."
