時維摩詰即入三昧。令此比丘自識宿命。曾於五百佛所殖眾德本。廻向阿耨多羅三藐三菩提　此三令識宿命。肇曰。淨名將開其本意故。以定力令諸比丘暫識宿命。自知曾於五百佛所殖眾得本。曾已迴此功德向無上道。此其本意。

"Then Vimalakīrti immediately entered samādhi, causing these monks to recognise their own past lives: that they had planted roots of virtue before five hundred Buddhas and dedicated them toward anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi." This is the third, causing them to recognise past lives. Sengzhao says: Vimalakīrti, intending to open up their original intention, used his samādhi power to cause the monks to temporarily recognise their past lives, knowing of themselves that they had planted roots of virtue before five hundred Buddhas and had already dedicated these merits toward the unsurpassable path. This was their original intention.
