時維摩詰來謂我言。唯阿難。何為晨朝持鉢住此　此三廣引彈事文三。初問乞意。二呵彈。三恥媿。初中文二。此初問也。生曰。晨朝非乞食時必有以也。

"At that time, Vimalakīrti came and said to me: 'O Ānanda! Why are you holding a bowl and standing here at early dawn?'" / Below, third, extensively citing the reproof, in three parts: 1. inquiring about the intent of begging; 2. reproof; 3. shame and embarrassment. The first part has two sections; this is the first, the question. Daosheng says: Early dawn is not the time for begging food; there must surely be a reason.
