無令大威德諸天及他方淨土諸來菩薩得聞斯語 二智聞必哂威德諸天淨土菩薩以已福惠不受疾報。方於如來知應現也。生曰。以彼推己無疾必達佛矣。而此言實病不亦哂斯語之不得乎。
"'Do not let the devas of great majesty and virtue, or the visiting bodhisattvas from pure lands of other directions, hear these words.'" / Second, the wise, upon hearing, would surely sneer: The devas of majesty and virtue and the bodhisattvas of pure lands, through their own merit and wisdom, do not receive the retribution of illness; comparing this to the Tathāgata, they know it is a responsive manifestation. Daosheng says: Inferring from their own state, they know that one without illness must have reached Buddhahood; yet claiming he is truly ill—would they not sneer at the inappropriateness of these words?
