"When a bodhisattva enters this gate: if they see any entirely pure and fine Buddha-land, they do not take delight in it, nor are they greedy for it, nor do they feel exalted; if they see any impure Buddha-land, they do not feel sorrow over it, nor are they hindered, nor do they sink down. They merely produce a pure mind toward the Buddhas, rejoicing, revering, and praising what has never been before." This third part secretly reproves the bodhisattvas from Gandhahastin and elsewhere. The true land is equal, neither pure nor defiled; it appears in response to beings, and therefore there are purity and defilement. If one can awaken to purity as non-pure, one is not greedy or exalted; if one awakens to defilement as non-defilement, one is not sorrowful or sunken. Yet although purity and defilement differ, both stem from the Buddha's great compassion; therefore one merely gives rise to pure faith toward the Buddhas and praises what has never been before.
