"'Why is this? The Māras delight in saṃsāra, but the bodhisattva does not abandon saṃsāra; the tīrthikas delight in all views, but the bodhisattva does not waver amidst all views'"—from here down is the explanation. Kumārajīva says: "This means he does not see them as having distinct marks." Sengzhao says: "Māras delight in attachment to the five desires and do not seek to transcend the world, hence they are bound to saṃsāra. Divergent students, although seeking transcendence, cling to their own path, hence they are bound to false views. The mahāsattva contemplates saṃsāra as identical with nirvāṇa and does not abandon it; he contemplates false views as identical with right views and thus can remain unmoving. Not wavering and not abandoning, he can therefore take them directly as attendants."
