The Buddha said to Ānanda: "If there are living beings who wish to contemplate Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, they should contemplate in this manner. Performing this contemplation is called correct contemplation; if one performs another contemplation, it is called wrong contemplation. After the Buddha's parinirvāṇa, if any disciples of the Buddha practice repentance in accordance with the Buddha's words, you should know that this person is practicing the conduct of Samantabhadra. One who practices the conduct of Samantabhadra does not see evil signs or the retribution of evil karma. If any living beings worship the Buddhas of the ten directions during the six periods of the day and night, recite the Mahāyāna sūtras, and contemplate the profound, empty Dharma of the ultimate truth, in the snap of a finger they will eradicate the sins of birth and death of a hundred thousand myriad koṭis of asaṃkhyeya kalpas. One who carries out this practice is truly a child of the Buddha, born from the Buddhas, with the Buddhas and bodhisattvas of the ten directions as their preceptors. This is called one who is fully endowed with the bodhisattva precepts; without needing a formal karmavācanā, it is naturally accomplished, and they are worthy of receiving the offerings of all humans and devas.
