This person had the nature and capacity of a bodhisattva and transmitted and upheld this vinaya. In this land there was Master Zhi, a śramaṇa of the Jin state, who was ordered to go to the western lands. He brought the root text of the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya from Khotan and returned to the Qin state. In the twelfth year of the Hongshi era, the state ruler Yao Xing, along with the former Qin General and Colonel-Director of Retainers, gathered more than three hundred virtuous śramaṇas in a monastery in Chang'an, and invited Buddhayaśas, the Tripiṭaka Mahāyāna Vinaya master from Kashmir, to translate the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya along with the Dīrghāgama. The monk Zhu Fonian of Liangzhou translated the foreign sounds, and Dao Yun, Dao Han, and others of the Qin state took down the translation. The emergence of vinaya in this land: the Dharmaguptaka is the second.
