The fourth "furthermore" explains the meaning of the four propositions regarding one who cultivates dhyāna imagining decline amidst flourishing and so forth, divided into two parts: 1. Briefly indicating the sūtra phrase; 2. Explaining, divided into two: (1) Brief explanation, divided into two: a. Indication, b. Explanation, divided into three: [a] Explaining time, [b] Explaining decline, [c] Explaining flourishing; (2) Detailed exposition, divided into two: a. Explaining the four propositions, divided into four: [a] Explaining clinging to decline amidst flourishing, divided into three: i. Question, ii. Answer, iii. Conclusion; [b] Explaining clinging to flourishing amidst decline, divided into three: i. Question, ii. Answer, iii. Conclusion; [c] Explaining clinging to decline amidst decline, divided into two: i. Question, ii. Answer, divided into four: (i) Explaining the cause of regression based on craving for existence, (ii) Explaining the cause of regression based on conceit, (iii) Explaining the cause of regression based on discrimination, (iv) Conclusion; [d] Explaining clinging to flourishing amidst flourishing, divided into two: i.
