八中第一明數建立分三　一分別界分二。一墮界分三。一問。二答。三結。二非墮界　二配尋伺等地位分三。一配有尋伺。二配無尋唯伺分二。一配地。二明修人。三配無尋伺。三明無尋伺義分二。一有漏界無尋伺義分三。一正義。二徵。三說因由分二。一有欲。二無欲。二無漏界攝無尋伺義分二。一明尋伺。二例餘。

The first among the eight, explaining the establishment of enumeration, has three parts: (1) distinguishing realms, which has two: 1. realms included [in existence], which has three: question, answer, and conclusion; 2. realms not included [in existence]; (2) matching with the stages of vitarka, vicāra, and so on, which has three: 1. matching with savitarka-savicāra; 2. matching with avitarka-vicāramātra, which has two: matching with bhūmi, and explaining persons who cultivate it; 3. matching with avitarka-avicāra; (3) explaining the meaning of avitarka-avicāra, which has two: 1. the meaning of avitarka-avicāra in defiled realms, which has three: (a) the correct meaning, (b) query, (c) stating reasons, which has two: having desire, and lacking desire; 2. the meaning of avitarka-avicāra subsumed under the uncontaminated realm, which has two: explaining vitarka and vicāra, and applying the same to the rest.
