The second among the eight, explaining the establishment of locations, has three parts: (1) establishing the locations of the desire realm, which has four: 1. heading; 2. listing the enumeration, which has eight: (a) listing the locations of the eight hot hells, which has two: question and answer; (b) the locations of the eight cold [hells], which has four: explaining the places of abidance, question, listing the names, and explaining the locations of the two hells; (c) the location of hungry ghosts; (d) the location of asuras; (e) setting aside animals; (f) the four great continents; (g) the eight intermediate continents; (h) the six desire-realm heavens; 3. critical examination of the solitary and neighboring hells, which has two: not establishing specific locations, and being found among humans; 4. general summary; (2) establishing the locations of the form realm, which has two: 1. heading; 2. listing the enumeration, which has four: (a) listing the first dhyāna, which has two: fruition and cause; (b) listing the second dhyāna, which has two: fruition and cause; (c) listing the third dhyāna, which has two: fruition and cause; (d) listing the fourth dhyāna, which has two: listing ordinary beings, which has three: fruition, cause, and explaining the location of the non-conceptual heaven; and listing noble heavens, which has two: Hīnayāna heavens, which has three: explaining the places of abidance, listing the names, and explaining the causes; and Mahāyāna heavens, which has three: explaining the places of abidance, listing the names, and explaining the causes; (3) establishing the locations of the formless realm, which has two: having locations, and lacking locations.
