The second section, answering on the meaning of proper hearing, has five parts: (1) general presentation; (2) interrogation; (3) answering the true meaning, which has seven parts: (a) based on upholding the sūtras, clarifying hearing the true Dharma; (b) based on upholding the Vinaya, clarifying hearing the true Dharma; (c) based on upholding the mātṛkās, clarifying hearing the true Dharma; (d) based on upholding the two divisions of sūtra and Vinaya, clarifying hearing the true Dharma; (e) based on upholding the two divisions of sūtra and mātṛkā, clarifying hearing the true Dharma; (f) based on upholding the two divisions of Vinaya and mātṛkā, clarifying hearing the true Dharma; (g) based on upholding the three piṭakas, clarifying hearing the true Dharma; (4) conclusion; (5) distinguishing the general meaning, which has two parts: (a) presentation; (b) explanation, which has two parts: (i) based on the letter, clarifying the characteristics of hearing; (ii) based on the meaning, clarifying the characteristics of hearing.
