Second, explaining skillfulness in the elements has two [parts]: 1. Explaining the substance of the elements; 2. Explaining skillfulness in the elements. The former has four [sections]: 1. General question, with two [subparts]: (1) Questioning the elements; (2) Questioning skillfulness; 2. Brief answer; 3. Listing the items, with eighteen as in the treatise; 4. Summary. The second, explaining the meaning of skillfulness, has three [sections]: 1. Explaining skillfulness in the eighteen elements, with three [subparts]: (1) Based on elements; (2) Based on seeds; (3) Explaining skillfulness based on spiritual lineage; 2. Explaining skillfulness in the causes and conditions of the eighteen phenomena; 3. General summary.
