Within the fourth [section], the extensive explanation in nine [parts] of the Chapter on Morality, the third, explaining the characteristics of the morality that is difficult to practice, has three parts: 1. general question; 2. brief answer; 3. detailed explanation in three parts: (1) explaining the morality that is difficult to practice based on abandoning great wealth and noble clan to uphold the pure precepts, with three parts: a. establishing the cause, in three parts as in the treatise, b. revealing the fruit, c. concluding; (2) explaining the morality that is difficult to practice based on steadfastly maintaining the pure precepts even when encountering life-threatening danger, with three parts: a. establishing the cause, b. revealing the fruit, c. concluding; (3) explaining the morality that is difficult to practice based on constantly abiding in right livelihood and upholding the pure precepts throughout all actions, postures, and mental attentions across the three dharmas, with three parts: a. establishing the cause, b. revealing the fruit, c. concluding.
