Part fourteen of the sixteen parts of the third [section], the detailed prose exposition: explaining the factors conducive to bodhi with reliance on the correct vows cultivated, which is divided into four: 1. a general question; 2. a brief answer; 3. an enumeration of names, divided into five as in the treatise; 4. a detailed explanation, divided into five: 1. explaining the vow of generating the mind [for awakening], divided into three: (1) establishing the basis for generating the mind, (2) establishing the mind capable of generating it, (3) conclusion; 2. explaining the vow concerning taking rebirth, divided into two: (1) explaining the correct meaning, (2) conclusion; 3. explaining the vow concerning practice, divided into two: (1) explaining the correct meaning, divided into two: a. explaining the vow concerning practice with reliance on discerning phenomena, b. explaining the vow concerning practice with reliance on cultivating the four immeasurables and so forth; 4. explaining the correct vows, divided into two: (1) explaining the correct meaning, divided into two: a. explaining the correct vows with reliance on the factors conducive to bodhi that subsume the six perfections and so forth, b. explaining the correct vows with reliance on virtues such as the ten masteries, (2) conclusion; 5. explaining the great vows, divided into two: (1) explaining their source, (2) extensively analyzing them, divided into two: a. general presentation, b. detailed explanation, divided into ten: (a) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on making offerings to immeasurable Tathāgatas, (b) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on guarding and upholding the true Dharma, (c) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on descending [into the womb] and so forth, (d) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on the correct conduct of bodhisattvas, (e) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on maturing sentient beings, (f) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on manifesting bodies universally, (g) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on purifying Buddha-fields, (h) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on identity of intention and application, (i) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on all applications not being in vain, (j) explaining the characteristics of the great vows with reliance on swiftly realizing equal and perfect awakening.
