Of the seven parts, 4. answering the fourth question, 'How does a good spiritual friend perform tasks toward the beings to be converted?', has three [parts]: (1) general statement; (2) specific explanation, which has five [parts]: [a] explaining the tasks performed by a good spiritual friend based on admonishing and pointing out faults; [b] explaining the tasks performed by a good spiritual friend based on mindfulness and reminding; [c] explaining the tasks performed by a good spiritual friend based on the ability to instruct; [d] explaining the tasks performed by a good spiritual friend based on the ability to admonish; [e] explaining the tasks performed by a good spiritual friend based on the ability to preach the Dharma; (3) pointing to the earlier extensive text.
