論。略說發心至證發心　述曰。次下別開。於中有二。初標數列名。後別開分別。此初也。信成就發心者。謂於十信終滿位中信心成就。能發三種決定信心住十住故。解行發心者。謂十行位。能解法空順行六度解行純熟發迴心住十向故。證發心者。位在初地乃至十地。依前二種相似發心證得真如發真心故。

[Treatise:] "Briefly stated, the generation of aspiration [is of three kinds: first, generation of aspiration through perfection of faith; second, through understanding and practice; third, through realization]..." [Commentary:] Next is the individual elaboration. Within this there are two: first, stating the number and listing the names; second, individually opening up the distinctions. This is the first. "Generation of aspiration through perfection of faith": this refers to the final fulfillment of the ten faiths, wherein faith is perfected, and one is able to generate the three kinds of resolute faith, abiding in the ten abodes. "Generation of aspiration through understanding and practice": this refers to the stages of the ten practices, where one is able to understand the emptiness of dharmas, accord with the practice of the six perfections, and with mature understanding and practice, generate dedication of merit, abiding in the ten dedications. "Generation of aspiration through realization": these are the stages from the first bhūmi up to the tenth bhūmi, where, relying on the previous two kinds of provisional aspiration, one realizes suchness and generates the true mind.
