2.244

論。其有眾生至受大苦惱　述曰。次下顯其毀謗罪重。於中有四。一謗成重罪。二誡勸止謗。三釋罪重意。四轉釋所由。此初也。極造五逆但五劫苦。謗此論者經無量劫受於十方阿鼻極苦。以是諸佛師母法故。

[Treatise:] "If there are sentient beings […] suffer great distress." / [Exposition:] Next, it shows the gravity of the sin of slander. There are four parts here: first, that slander constitutes a grave sin; second, an admonition to halt slander; third, an explanation of the intent behind the gravity of the sin; fourth, a further explanation of its rationale. This is the first. Even the utmost commission of the five heinous sins brings only five kalpas of suffering, but one who slanders this treatise will undergo the extreme suffering of the Avīci hell in the ten directions for immeasurable kalpas, because this is the mother-and-teacher Dharma of all Buddhas.
