5.126

論。其有眾生至受大苦惱　釋曰。次下顯其謗毀罪重。於中有四。一謗成重罪。二誡勸止謗。三釋罪重意。四轉釋其義。此初也。謂五逆罪隨一道等但一劫等受無間苦。謗此論者逕無量劫墮於無間受多饒苦。經說謗法過殺大千滿中佛羅受苦無盡。此亦如是。以是諸佛所師法故。

Treatise: "If there are sentient beings [who slander this treatise] … [they will undergo great suffering and affliction]." / Commentary: Next, this reveals the gravity of the transgression of slandering [it]. Herein there are four [parts]: first, slandering constitutes a grave transgression; second, an admonition and exhortation to cease slandering; third, an explanation of why the transgression is grave; fourth, a further explanation of its meaning. This is the first. That is to say, as for the five heinous transgressions, depending on whichever path [one commits], one undergoes the suffering of the Avīci Hell for merely one kalpa or the like. But one who slanders this treatise passes through measureless kalpas, falling into Avīci to undergo abundant suffering. The sūtras state that slandering the Dharma surpasses killing the Buddhas and arhats that fill a great trichiliocosm, incurring inexhaustible suffering. This is also like that, because [the treatise] is the Dharma that is the teacher of all Buddhas.
