3.42

論。五者起業至種亦業故　釋曰。依前計名執著心故起貪等惑。發動身口造種種業。能招當來五趣苦果。此即惑業為苦近因也。

[Treatise:] Fifth is the characteristic of giving rise to karma [… down to …] because of generating various kinds of karma.
[Commentary:] Relying on the mind attached to names mentioned above, one gives rise to afflictions such as greed, mobilises body and speech, and creates various kinds of karma, which can bring about future painful retributions in the five destinies. This is the afflictions and karma serving as proximate causes of suffering.
