[Treatise:] Because the causes and conditions [...] spontaneous activities are accomplished. / [Commentary:] This reveals the realized principle. "Cause" refers to avidyā; "condition" refers to deluded objects. "Marks of the mind" refers to the coarse and subtle defiled minds. Because these are all exhausted, the substance of the mind undergoes the revolution of the basis (āśrayaparivṛtti), which is called attaining nirvāṇa and accomplishing spontaneous activities. The revolution of the basis is of two kinds: first, revolution through revelation, in which the substance of the mind is revealed through the revealing cause, called attaining nirvāṇa; second, revolution through acquisition, in which the activity of the mind arises through the productive cause, accomplishing spontaneous activities. The former is the fundamental wisdom that shines upon quiescence; the latter is the subsequent cognition whose quiescence shines: these are the two superior fruits of bodhi and nirvāṇa.
