5.120

論。已說修行至利益分　釋曰。上來已釋修行信心。次下第五勸修利益。於中有二。初結前起後。後正示勸修。此初也。前來已說顯法正宗。此即明其歎法流通。則釋題中論之一字。故次文云。我已總說。以文顯義名為說故。即以文義而為論故。

[Treatise:] The cultivation [of faith] has been explained; [next is the chapter on the benefits of encouraging cultivation.]
[Commentary:] The above has explained the cultivation of faith. Next is the fifth: the benefits of encouraging cultivation. In this there are two: first, concluding the preceding to introduce the following; next, directly showing and encouraging cultivation. This is the first. The preceding already explained and revealed the primary doctrine of the Dharma; this clarifies the propagation of praising the Dharma, which explains the word "Treatise" in the title. Therefore the next text says: "I have comprehensively explained." Using text to reveal meaning is called "explaining"; using text and meaning constitutes a "treatise."
