第八唯是無覆等者。然其無記總有二種。所謂有覆無覆別故。若是無覆惑不相應。若是有覆惑得俱起。覆謂染法。障聖道故。不障聖道故名無覆。第八唯是無覆無記。不同末那。雖是無記性有覆故。煩惱俱故。

Regarding "the eighth is solely unobscured" and so forth: now, the indeterminate is of two general kinds, namely distinguished as obscured and unobscured. If it is unobscured, it does not associate with afflictions; if it is obscured, it can arise together with afflictions. "Obscured" refers to defiled dharmas, because they obstruct the noble path. Because it does not obstruct the noble path, it is called unobscured. The eighth [consciousness] is solely unobscured indeterminate, unlike manas, which, although indeterminate, has an obscured nature because it is accompanied by afflictions.
