答不從過去等者。此中意說。不斷現惑。以道起時現惑先無。過去已滅無惑可斷。未來未至亦無可斷。現道不俱亦無所斷。是故不從三世現惑而得斷也。

Regarding "answering: not from the past" and so forth: the meaning here is that it does not sever present afflictions, because when the path arises, present afflictions are already absent. The past has already perished, so there are no afflictions to be severed; the future has not yet arrived, so there are also none to be severed; and present afflictions do not coexist with the path, so there is also nothing to be severed. Therefore, it is not severed from the actively manifesting afflictions of the three times.
