為斷如是如是等者。於加行時為欲永斷如是麁重。起此對治。治道正生麁重正滅。故約麁重而得斷名。若約現行則無斷故。

Regarding "in order to sever such and such" and so forth: at the time of preparatory application, in order to sever completely such crude heaviness, one gives rise to this antidote. Just as the antidotal path arises, crude heaviness is extinguished. Therefore, it receives the name of severing in terms of crude heaviness, for in terms of active manifestation there is no severing.
