Or we have been heedless, unrestrained, unmindful, and distracted, engaging in dice, kickball, sugoroku, and weiqi, gathering in crowds to drink wine and eat meat, mocking one another with meaningless talk, discussing worldly affairs from month to year, vainly wasting the days. In the early, middle, and late night we have not cultivated meditation or recitation, but have been indolent and lazy, lying like corpses all day long, not directing our minds to the six bases of mindfulness; seeing the triumphs of others we have given rise to jealousy, harbouring bitterness and malice, fully giving rise to afflictions, causing the fierce wind of evils to blow upon the firewood of evils, blazing without rest. The slight good of our three karmas has all been consumed together; the good dharmas being exhausted, we have become icchantikas, falling into the fiery hells with no time of release. Therefore, we disciples, today with utmost sincerity bow our heads before all the Buddhas and assemblies of nobles in the ten directions, performing kṣamā for all the sins accumulated as recounted above. Whether light or heavy, coarse or subtle, done by ourselves or causing others to do them, or done rejoicing in agreement, or done by using force to compel others, and so on up to praising those who practice evil dharmas, today with utmost sincerity we disclose and perform kṣamā for them, wishing that they all be eradicated.
