At that time, after the Bhagavat had spoken these verses, he said to Śāriputra: "You should know now that after my nirvāṇa, if in future ages there are monks, nuns, upāsakas, or upāsikās who are able to hear this extremely profound, secret, and essential Dharma of pure śīla and the recipes for various illnesses in practicing dhyāna-concentration—this Supreme Banner of the King of Light Dhāraṇī—you should know that this person has not planted roots of goodness under one Buddha, two Buddhas, three, four, or five Buddhas, but has cultivated the mind of the three types of bodhi under immeasurable hundreds of thousands of Buddhas for a long time, and now is able to hear this extremely profound, secret essential [teaching]. Practicing according to what is taught, you should know that this person is in their final body; like a swift torrent of water, they will swiftly attain the four fruits of the recluse and the bodhisattva practice."
