The Buddha said to Ānanda: "After the Buddha's nirvāṇa, for the Buddha's disciples, contemplating in this way is called correct contemplation; if one contemplates otherwise, it is called false contemplation. One who cultivates this samādhi, though possessing afflictions, will not be driven by afflictions. Because of the power of this buddhānusmṛti-samādhi, the Buddhas of the ten directions emit great radiant light and appear before that person, their light peerless, the supreme honored ones of the three realms." When the Buddha had spoken these words, the Brahmā Devarāja further requested: "May the Buddha-Bhagavat preach the radiant colors and forms of the Buddhas of the ten directions as they stand before the practitioner!"
