When the Bhagavat spoke these words, there appeared in the sky a seven-jeweled terrace, upon each terrace one hundred million jeweled canopies, and the heavens rained down jeweled flowers to make offerings to Śākyamuni Buddha. At that time, the Dharma Prince Mañjuśrī sat cross-legged on the jeweled terrace, dwelling in the sky along with one billion bodhisattvas, and praised him, saying: “Excellent, excellent, Śākyamuni, Greatly Compassionate Bhagavat! You have spoken of the Buddha’s bodily marks, demonstrated the Buddha’s deportment, manifested the Buddha’s radiance, and revealed all the transformation Buddhas, creating the cause for seeing the Buddha for ordinary, foolish sentient beings in future ages who do not see the Buddha. Excellent, Ānanda, compassionate Dharma son! Your name means Joy. In accord with your name, settle your realization, uphold the Buddha's words well, and be careful not to forget them! Future sentient beings who hear your exposition will thereby see the Buddha, and those who contemplate this meaning will fully see the wondrous form-body of the Buddha.” When Mañjuśrī had spoken these words, he descended from the sky with the great assembly of bodhisattva retinue, paid homage to the Buddha's feet, circumambulated the Buddha seven times, and stepped back to stand to one side.
