1.42

"Kulaputra, from beginningless time all sentient beings, due to falsely conceiving a self and attaching to what belongs to the self, have never known of themselves the arising and ceasing from thought to thought; therefore, they produce resentment and attachment and indulge in the five desires. If they encounter a good friend who teaches and causes them to awaken to the pure nature of perfect enlightenment, discovering arising and ceasing, they immediately know that the nature of this life is itself toil and anxiety. If there is a person who permanently severs toil and anxiety and attains the purity of the dharmadhātu, that very understanding of purity becomes their own hindrance, and so they are not at ease in perfect enlightenment. This is called the ordinary person's accordance with the nature of enlightenment.
