爾時佛告觀世音菩薩言：「善哉善哉！汝大慈悲欲說神呪，今正是時。」爾時觀世音菩薩即現馬頭羅剎身說大神呪，名何耶揭唎婆，放大光明映蔽一切，諸來呪神皆當降伏，唯顯一身逈然獨立。爾時佛告觀世音菩薩言：「我有佛神呪，名曰佛頂如來放光摩訶悉怛他般多羅攝一切呪王最勝金輪帝殊羅金剛大道場陀羅尼，極大尊重，為利益一切眾生更無有上，唯佛與佛共相傳說。汝等應當一心受持，生希有想。」

At that time, the Buddha said to Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva: "Excellent, excellent! Out of your great compassion you wish to utter a divine mantra; now is precisely the time." At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva immediately manifested the body of the horse-headed rākṣasa and pronounced a great divine mantra named Hayagrīva, releasing a great light that outshone everything. The mantra spirits who had come all surrendered, leaving only his single body standing tall and alone. At that time, the Buddha addressed Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, saying: "I possess a Buddha's divine mantra named the Great Bodhimaṇḍa Dhāraṇī of the Buddhoṣṇīṣa Tathāgata's Radiant Mahāsitātapatrā, Comprehending All Mantra Kings, the Supreme Golden Wheel Tejorāśi-Vajra. It is supremely revered; for benefiting all sentient beings nothing surpasses it. Only Buddhas can transmit and preach it among themselves. You all should single-mindedly receive and hold it, giving rise to the thought that it is rare."
