the heads of rākṣasas, their mouths are like the mouths of rākṣasas, having eighteen horns on their heads, and holding iron stakes in their hands. Inside the seven tiers of walls are countless iron victory banners, and from the tops of the banners fire bursts forth like water springs. Molten iron liquid flows down, pervading everywhere; above each of the four gates of the hell are eighteen great cauldrons, overflowing at the rim with boiling molten iron that pours down into the four gates, flowing so as to fill the inside of the hell. Inside each compartment house there are also eighty-four thousand great iron serpents vomiting venomous fire from their mouths, releasing it so that the entire enclosure is filled. The sound of the serpents roaring is like the sound of great thunderclaps. A rain of great molten iron balls also falls, completely filling Avīci.

Outside each of the four gates of that Avīci Hell, fiercely spreading, burning fire crosses and sweeps from south, north, east, and west. The flames blaze upwards and downwards from the perimeter of the iron wall of eighty thousand yojanas up to the iron net above, consuming from above, below, and in the four directions, completely and fiercely blazing, and suffering arises simultaneously, just as described above.

Their bodies will also fill its interior; afflicted by the agony of the heat, their mouths open and eyes close, their eyes open and mouths close, but their mouths being clamped shut, they are unable to speak. Because of their numerous sins, many countless wheels of swords rain down from the sky,
