world realm, you must make offerings and pay homage to that Buddha, the Bhagavān, and conceive the notion that meeting him is exceedingly difficult. Why is that? The Buddha Śākyamuni practiced what is exceedingly difficult to practice for countless kotis of nayutas of eons, and out of great compassion he made this aspiration: ‘When I attain awakening, may I attain perfect buddhahood in an impure world realm, a place of mountains, ravines, potsherds, gravel, thorns, and the like, where sentient beings possess afflictions and fully engage in the five deeds of immediate retribution and the ten unvirtuous actions; and, having completely cut off all suffering for their benefit and happiness, having fully endowed them with every bliss, and having perfected the Dharmakāya, may I pass into nirvāṇa without remainder!’ Since that Buddha, the Bhagavān, initially made such an aspiration, when you arrive in that world realm, you should behave just as the Buddha himself walks and just as the Buddha himself resides.” When he had said this, all those bodhisattvas said with one voice, “We shall act according to the Bhagavān's command!” Then, each of those bodhisattvas, surrounded by an entourage of hundreds of thousands of kotis of nayutas of bodhisattvas, set out for where the Sahā world realm was situated. Whichever world realms they traversed shook in six ways, and great light rays shone everywhere. From the sky above, the devas rained down mandārava and mahāmandārava flowers like rain. Illuminated by the great light rays and moved by miraculous power, world realms as numerous as the sands of the river Gaṅgā also trembled. Furthermore, limitless hundreds of thousands of divine musical instruments resounded in the sky above without being played, while those bodhisattvas proceeded to Gṛdhrakūṭa
