گو خلق بدانید که من عاشق و مستم آوازه درست است که من توبه شکستم و مانند نقش دیوار بر در من ملازم میبود و زبان او یک زمان از یاد من نمیآسود، من نیز در شکل و شمایل او واله و حیران میبودم و در راه محبت او نصیحت هیچ ناصح نمیشنیدم :

And like a painting upon a wall he remained continually at my door, and his tongue did not rest for a moment from remembering me. I too
remained bewildered and astonished at his form and figure, and in the path of love for him I listened to the counsel of no counselor:
Go, proud ascetic, and do not preach to us! / For God's sake, forgive lovers; how long will this reproach continue?
