nirayagaī ṇaṃ bhaṃte! kevatiyaṃ kālaṃ virahiyā uvavāeṇaṃ pannattā?
goyamā! jahanneṇaṃ ekkaṃ samayaṃ, ukkoseṇaṃ bārasa muhuttā|
evaṃ vakkaṃtīpayaṃ bhāṇiyavvaṃ niravasesaṃ|
sevaṃ bhaṃte! sevaṃ bhaṃte tti jāva viharai|

"For how long a time, Venerable Sir, is the infernal realm declared to be devoid of rebirth?"
"Gautama, at the minimum for one instant, at the maximum for twelve muhūrtas.
In this way, the chapter on transmigration is to be spoken in its entirety."
"So it is, Venerable Sir! So it is, Venerable Sir!" [Gautama said], and up to: he dwelt [in veneration].
