esa ṇaṃ bhaṃte! jīve tītamanaṃtaṃ sāsayaṃ samayaṃ dukkhī? samayaṃ adukkhī? samayaṃ dukkhī vā adukkhī vā? puvviṃ ca ṇaṃ karaṇeṇaṃ anegabhāvaṃ anegabhūyaṃ pariṇāmaṃ pariṇamai? ahe se veyaṇijje nijiṇṇe bhavai, tao pacchā egabhāve egabhūe siyā?
haṃtā goyamā! esa ṇaṃ jīve tītamanaṃtaṃ sāsayaṃ samayaṃ jāva egabhūe siyā| evaṃ paḍuppannaṃ sāsayaṃ samayaṃ, evaṃ anāgayamanaṃtaṃ sāsayaṃ samayaṃ|

"Venerable Sir, was this jīva throughout past infinite, eternal time unhappy for a moment, non-unhappy for a moment, or both unhappy and non-unhappy for a moment? And previously, through activity, does it transform into a transformation of manifold state and manifold nature? Below, that feeling-producing [karma] is dissipated; after that, could it become of single state and single nature?"
"Yes, Gautama, this jīva throughout past infinite, eternal time, up to: could become of single nature. Likewise throughout present eternal time; likewise throughout future infinite, eternal time."
